Happy International Women’s Day to all those in the Northern Territory, the rest of Australia and our friends overseas! Today is a day of reflection about where we came from and we were are going. Today is a good time to think about equality as well as continuing the ongoing discussions regarding violence towards women.
In Australia, on average, one woman a week is murdered by a current or former partner, 1 in 4 has experienced emotional abuse, with 1 in 3 experiencing physical violence since the age of 15; and 1 in 5 has experienced sexual violence and 85% of Australian women have been sexually harassed. The effects of such acts have far-reaching consequences in all areas of a woman’s life, and further impacts society in general.
It is time we stepped up and pushed for change. Women’s rights are human rights!
It seems fitting that today we finally release our first garments tailored to all women. We are introducing our spaghetti strap 100% Aussie cotton cami's, designed specifically for women, and for our warm local climate. In order to help those who support women who are in a tough place or have experienced violence, proceeds of purchases of this new range made in the month of March will be donated to local charities making a difference towards women.
Hopefully, we can all help to create a world where women are free to live their lives without discrimination, harassment and violence and where women are accepted as equals.
